I was forced to get a regular job a year ago. Because of the hours of the job and the long commute to and from work, I was not able to actually do any art work for the entire time I was employed there. Last Friday was my last day. So, I once again have time to get back into the things that I so love doing.
A friend of ours asked me to do a portrait of her poodle. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about the work. I have never done animals before and the prospect of drawing a poodle with lots of curly hair was a bit daunting. But I bit the bullet this morning and dove into it. I am rather pleased with the results, however, as the artist I see lots of room for improvement. The good news is I learned a great deal. Everyone, meet Sydney.

I do not and never will charge for my online art lessons. I feel that every service on the internet should be offered free of charge. However, managing any site does take time and money. If you feel encouraged to help, we will happily accept any donation you would like to give.

Michael, congratulations for picking up the pencil and drawing!! It can be hard to start after a long break, but what a comfort when we find out we still have it. And you do. Sydney looks wonderful!
Thanks Stacy. Sydney is a delight and I loved working on her portrait. It really feels good being back in to my art. I am working on the portrait now that I am going to use to continue the lessons on this site. I hope to get enough of it done today to show everyone what we will be working on.
Michael: What a great portrait of Sydney. You have captured her, personality and all. I can't stop looking at her portrait and I will always think of you and Amy. As her Momma, I can't thank you enough for sharing your talent. Please continue with all venues of your art and that goes for Amy too! Here's to future portraits!! Love to you both, Betty
Just wanted to tell you that the picture of Sydney is the most wonderful thing. You have completely captured her "look" Good luck in your future plans and hope to see you both again soon
